Tenth post: El Caleuche

I really love the south of Chile, but there is a magical and strange place: Chiloe. This place is characterized by the large number of myths and legends that circulate.

One of this is El Caleuche. This legend talks about a Galeon, I mean a big boat that sailed the seas of Chiloe.

Is manned by witches, and on dark nights lit sails and heard loud music and party. It lies in the middle of the fog. The ship never sails in the day. This music attracts sailors and shipwrecked. This people these become part of the crew of Caleuche.

According to popular belief people have drowned are picked up by this mysterious ship from the depths of the sea to be welcomed into eternal life. On the other hand, it is not as kind to those who have dared to address her gaze straight ahead.

Caleuche sailors have certain physical characteristics. They have only one leg to walk, on the other the lead folded back. On the other hand, it does not have memory. This is for prevent they say the secrets of what happens on board.


Some people say that when this boat takes people, it shows them big treasures. The boat promises give some but the people should not say anything about this meeting. So when a merchant became rich quickly is because it has hidden negotiations with the Caleuche.

Ninth Post: Interesting Animal

In this post, I will write about a very singular animal: bat. This is a very interesting animal because the bat is able to orient via echolocation, on the other hand, some bats are so dangerous because they can feeding on the human blood: the vampire bat. The bite can cause infection.

The bat is especially common in North Africa, Southwest Asia, and almost all Europe. We can also see it in Japan, Korea and Taiwan. They live in caves and big churches, abandoned places and under some trees.

It is a mammal that is characterized by nocturnal habits, and sleeping during the day. This is a small animal, not larger than 5 centimeters and can weigh approximately three to five kilograms. The length of their wings, stretched be achieved, notably about 25 centimeters.

They are sedentary animals, namely that unlike other animals, they do not migrate or transfer activity have much in terms of habitat. Their average life expectancy is about six years.

The teeth of the bats are so variable. According to the BBC, the morphology depends on the diet. In the world there exist different kinds of Bats: Exist Bats that eat and have a complex molar with irregular surfaces. On the other hand, vampire bats feeding on the blood of animals, including humans. Their food is liquid, so you will have fewer but sharper teeth.

Eight Post: My Future Summer

Hi, in this post I would to talk about my future holidays.

I will travel to the south of Chile with my friends. We plan to stay in different cities like Valdivia, Temuco, Frutillar, Calafken and Osorno. We plan to travel throw different places. We plan to go camping between natural places. I really love to travel to these places because they are very close to each other.

I would like to go to Volcan Osorno. Between clouds and local legends, El Volcan Osorno is an icon of Southern Chile. This volcano is Outstanding and a privileged panoramic view of fields, forests and lakes. His ascension is a magical experience, an encounter with nature and oneself.

On the other hand, I and my family planned to go to meet the north of our country, specifically “Bahia Inglesa”. From what we have seen in the pictures it is a great place. It has a lot of beaches.

It has white sand, gentle slope, gentle surf and warm, clear waters, the beaches of Bahia Inglesa are recognized throughout the country. Some of them are El Chuncho, La Piscina y Playa Blanca, although it can also be accessed located in the surrounding beaches, like Bahía Cisne, Los Patos, Las Machas y Ramada.

Bahia Inglesa there are also places for sports and outdoor adventures. There are several beaches to visit and in some, the wind has done a good place for sports like kitesurf, which is practiced on a small table as long as you drive a comet the waves at high speed.

Seventh Post: A Photograph I Like

Choose some picture about my favorite moments has always been a difficult work for me. Each one is unique and portrays a special moment in the life of each person. In this case, I chose a photograph where am I and my little sister. This picture was taken by my brother.


On that occasion we were in San Cristóbal Hill, I spend time with my family. I feel that this picture show me the gift that gave me the life to have someone so small with us. It is something like a metaphor for a gift fallen from heaven.


On the other hand, I always think that she will be someone who will need all the tools to manage in a world where people with Down syndrome have seen as something strange, almost angelic and almost non-existent capacity of criticism. More than change the perception of the society, she should be a person who know the value of life, love and free, regardless of how small and incompetent that we can be in this world. She will make it, she will be happy, I'm sure of that.

Six Post: A Skill I Admire

In this post I will talk about the abilities or skill that I admire. I admire the people that can speak, write, listening and read in much different languages. This ability has been underappreciated by the general population. This is because few times we wondered how we know about human history.

The language allows us to build our environment and give them some sense. On the other hand, it allows us to interact with others through a same system of symbols and signs.

Through the history, this people can help to connect different cultures. Thanks to these people found the contribution that different cultures have made to scientific knowledge. On the other hand, we can find how the culture and the behavior of our ancestors are.

I met a person who speaks four languages. Her name was Constanza and she loves to study languages ​​because is interesting. She knew Spanish, English, French, and is now learning Hebrew. Her dream was to be part of big organizations of language like RAE. Currently, she is preparing to go to college and want to study something related to it like Linguistic Anthropology or something related to the study of dead languages. She says it's very important to express ourselves differently and find specific words.

This is a skill that requires linking various words and their meanings. On the other hand, it requires us not think in our rules about grammar and opens our minds to a new way to build our thinking.

In my case, I hate to learn new languages, but I appreciate this ability. I think it has contributed much to mankind.

Fifth Post: My deam work

In this occasion I will talk about my dream job. Actually I study odontology in my country. This major need much practice more than memory or a big source of knowledge. I really like my future job because require than I know my patient and their behavior in oral practice.

In my opinion, a great job need the contact with other peoples, and for this reason I like my future profession.

Maybe, the problem of our work is the expensive treatment. On the other hand, many people can develop normally with a poor oral health. I think our profession promotes very high standards of beauty more than a good oral health.

For this reasons, I would like to change this and carry my profession to other kind of peoples. I would like to will get a specialization in Patients with Special Needs. In our society, we have many people ignored because they can´t be expressed as social norms permit. This kind of people teach us the simply thighs in the life. I can get this specialization in other country like Spain or England, but not in Chile and it takes 3 years.

In the future, I would like to work in Teleton Institute and help these children to have a good oral health.

Fourth Post: Friends

Hi! In this occasion, I will talk about my Friends. These peoples are so important in our life. A friend is a brother that the society choice for you.

Since my point of view, a friend is a gift. Every gift is different, some stand with us throughout the life, others take others roads and we must let them go, others only stand whit us for a short time, some give bad impressions, others don’ t like us at the beginning.

In my life, I have had different kind of friends but everyone teach me the importance of confidence. I have friends who are in other cities, so it is more difficult to communicate. In the other hand, I have

My actually fiends are from different places when I go. Some are from my high school, my neighborhood, the university, the place where I go in summer, but I never meet a people through the internet.

In this university I have met great peoples. We spend the time in an interesting conversation, drink something, laugh at life and support in difficult moments and we play video games.

Third Post: My favorite technology

I`m not a lover of technology, but these tools are very useful in our daily life. One of the things I like to do is reading an interesting book about philosophy or science fiction; see a film, a series or an interesting documentary.

 The best invention for me is the Tablet. I carry whit me to every places that I go, whit this I can study, fun, see all things that I like, when and where I want. When I go out of Santiago, I can drink a delicious cup of coffee and reading something.

In my university, with this instrument I can record the voice of my teachers in theirs class and listen in another moment. On the other hand I can read the class material. With this I don`t need to print the material, I can protect the environment.

My life without my tablet will not be different, because there are many objects whit which it would replace. The technology isn`t indispensable in our society, this tools only can make easier our life, but it can`t take the place of the human mind. 

Second Post: My Best Holidays

My Best Holidays
Hello everybody, in this occasion I will talk about a great experience for me.

One year ago, I went to the south of Chile for twelve days. If you go to this magic place, you will count the days to return in other opportunity.

I had never traveled there. The trip lasted 12 hours, was the most log trip in my life. Normally, the trip leas 7-8 hours, but we should had to stop frequently because my mother was pregnant, and the doctor recommended not stand sit down a long time.
I went whit my parent and some relatives and we stand in a house in “Los Lagos”, a cozy place to relax and arrive after to travel to the different places. We can visit different lakes, rivers and some towns and cities like Lake Lican Ray, Pucon, Futrono, Valdivia, Temuco, Lake Calafquen and others. Every one of these places is beautiful, and I may return to visit there.

Finally, I, my cousins and my brother make different things. Sometimes we went to some lake and talked about the life, play carioca and poker, drink some bears and smoke cigarettes.

Fist Post: What country would I like to visit?

In this post I will talk about a special place for my. I really love my country but I would like to go to the other sites, for example Norway.

Norway is lies in Europe, between England and Sweden, and next to Finland. This country is very rainy and cold, full of nature, big rivers and high mountains. It’s perfect!

I do not know about the food in this country, but it isn`t a problem for me.

In this place we can practice much kind of spots. We can practice since trekking, climbing, kayak, until parachuting. On the other hand we can move through the interesting roads. I´m a people very restless, I can stand in a place without know these principal attractions.

On the other hand, Norway is a developed country. The statistics say that Norway has the most quality of life in the world. This country is special to live, work and study. Next to this place is Finland, one of the strongest countries in education system.

 

Post 10 (week 15) Evaluation of your Blogging Experience

This time I will talk about my experience in my blog. Since I went to school, the only thing that I learned in English were words and recognize them in a text, but never write something by myself and create something that has coherence and cohesion. I think that a part of learning to communicate in this language is that we be able to create something from our own experiences.

I have never used “Blogger”, it is a very complete and easy editing platform. I can use a lot of tools and colors, making it a great way to communicate without losing the formality of a class.

I think that through this experience I could change my writing skills. Thanks to this activity, gradually I could collect my thoughts and relate what I have learned in class. On the other hand, I could use new forms of expression that allowed enrich my vocabulary.

Since my point of view, my weakest point is not English writing. The idea of ​​blogs is excellent for forms of written communication skills, but only limited to that. What I mean is that we should further strengthen activities on “listening” and “speaking” in English, as expressed using these forms is more complex. Perhaps this could be supplemented with more activities "lisening" without being evaluated.

Post 9 (week 14) >> Themed/Free post 4 "FOUCh"

In this post I speak about my faculty. This is a very important space for me, because I spend most of the time on it. For all of us this space represents the first approach to our future employment.
This space has direct access to the Faculty of chemistry and is one block from the Faculty of medicine. Sometimes I've had classes in these areas. As for the other careers that do not directly belong to the area of health, our faculty is too remote.


Our faculty has a well-stocked library, with books of different area of knowledge applied to dentistry. On the other hand, the rooms are very cosy, they are well structured according to the number of students expected.


The dental clinic, although it has an excellent implementation, is a small space which ensures the privacy of the patient. During the clinical examination we must get useful information to reach a proper diagnosis, which may be interfered by this defect. In our career as a dentist will not only see mouths, if not people with different life histories.


Changes that I would make in the faculty are enlarge the green areas. In a place full of high frequency noise and a smell of eugenol intense, we need to clear us. For that we need fresh spaces, that only fully provided by nature. This would greatly reduce the stress.

Post 7 (week 11) >> Childhood Series.

On this occasion, I will talk about series from my childhood that I used to see. In my case, I saw many series that marked my childhood, but only one was my favorite: “El chavo del 8”


I started to see her when I was 6 years old. The program deals with the experiences of a group of people living in a Mexican neighborhood where its protagonist, el Chavo, carry out mischief along with his friends that cause misunderstandings and arguments between the same neighbors, always in a comic tone. This series was performed by adults, even the children characters. Despite this, was achieved to maintain innocence intact. What I liked most in this series was the distinctive of each of his characters, which represented different realities in a very funny way. Along with this, this series had a family touch, both so parents and children were laughing together.


I feel that this series represent much my childhood. Games, pranks and laughs were very similar to the experiences that I lived with my friends from childhood. Perhaps that is the reason why I liked more than other series.


Finally, the only series I see is "the walking dead" and I really like.

The web site that I chose to speak on this occasion is SciELO. It consists of a database with several magazines, articles and reports about medical clinical, epidemiology and social sciences. It is an initiative created by FAPESP and BIREME and according to the site, "it aims to develop a common methodology for the preparation, storage, dissemination and evaluation of scientific literature in electronic format". Today, it boasts the participation of thirteen Spanish and Portuguese speaking countries, one of this is Chile.


The structure is quite simple. Account with a search engine by "Keys words", topic, author, in addition to being able to choose the country of origin of the article.


I consult this page constantly, whenever I need to organize any oral presentation or supplement my study with fresh information. I really love it, it is quite reliable because it has different mechanisms of evaluation of its publications and constantly new papers are. Hello everybody!

One of my favorite pastimes is watching movies. On the contrary, the first film I saw is called "Stuart Little ", I liked very much, in fact every time that the memory associate it to my childhood with my family. I've seen different types of movies: Drama, action, science fiction, comedy, but which I really love are horror films. I like the feeling of suspense and not knowing what is what will happen to the protagonist.

The film that I liked most is "Sinister", a supernatural horror film released in October 2012, achieving the rapturous applause from the audience in general, mainly in the United States. Many film critics catalogued it like "a truly terrifying movie" and I agree with them.

This film shows a writer called Ethan Hawke who travels with his family around the country to investigate gruesome murders that he turns into books. Once they are moved to a house where another family in suspicious circumstances was murdered, they discover home videos revealing horrible tracks beyond which caused the original tragedy.

Post 4 (week 6) Themed/Free Post 1

"The music is the food for the soul"

Since my point of view, music is an important part of humanity. Throughout life, the people have to had to overcome multiple obstacles, which made us different reactions in our emotions: joy, pain, impotence, tranquility, among others. This is how we know that we are not able to accumulate so much without expressing it in some way, the music being the most effective.

Personally I hear various kind of music, but the ones I prefer are the rock, metal, and hip hop. Each of these styles is a different form of expression but using the sound as a medium. I listen every time and places; I feel that these styles contain part of me and heard since I was a child.

The more I prefer bands that are System of a Down , Metallica , Pearl Jam and Nirvana. The first arose around 2000 and their songs are of a complex style classify, having very poetic lyrics with meanings that the same people are giving them , Perl Jam and Nirvana emerged in the 90s being one of the best representatives the thought of his time and Metallica that is a classic that they make to concerts today.

As for concerts, I've never been to one, the days come not accommodate me and in the case of nirvana, the band don´t exist. 

Expectations for a New Semester

This semester will be very relaxing for me. I will only have 5 subjects that I could not take the full program. Although, this period will be very interesting because I dedicate mainly to see the psychological needs of the patient and the community mainly. On the other hand, I will have Subjects of last year which will be daunting.

In my extracurricular activities, I am do taekwondo. This discipline has allowed me to learn self-defense techniques useful in case of being in dangerous situations and I can share with partners who did not previously know.

Other activities I do are to go to the gym at the University. Not like a lot of people, but personally it has allowed me to take away my stress and studying with less anxiety.

This year I have high expectations. Academically, I pretend understand the patient like a full and a complex body, managing to unite biological, social and sociological in one being. The teachers have much motivated us to study this area and to see people from different points of view.

Autobiography

My name is Cristopher Farías and I live in Santiago. I was born in October, twenty two 1994. In my home, I have living whit my family: my parents, my brother and sister. My brother, Daniel, is a high school student and my sister is eight moths old, is my tiny heart. On the other hand, my parents are very special for mi, they have been a mainstay in my life. Frequently, we do many activities together like go to a park, a cinema, to the beach, and we can have a good time in good humor and laughter.

In 2014, I enter to university for study odontology. I really like this profession because we can change the physical image of people and help then to rebuild their self-confidence and arise in all their endeavors.

The Institution is very complete. It have a gym, chemical labs and the necessary equipment, an English lab, an excellent clinic next academic building, a comfortable library, a parking and places to relax. But we have a problem, the space is limited and must maximize.

In my free time, I can go to the gym to fee the stress. Regularly, I watch movies and series, I meet with fiends or read an interesting book.
